As promised below, a brief review.

“Technical difficulties” meant that the matinee performance was cancelled so we got tickets for the evening one instead. The first thing I noticed upon sitting down was the similarity of the seating to that of a football ground – not that it was made out of plastic, you understant, but the fact that your (well, ok, my) knees were up to your chin. Not a good start.

Anyway, the musical itself was pretty good. There were still some rough edges (noisy scenery moves, occasional microphone feedback) but not so much as to spoil it. Most of the songs are nothing special, though a couple of numbers at the start of the second half were memorable. The singing was competent, the girl playing Juliet had a very good voice. And Jane McDonald really can’t act.

That’ll do, I think.

Well, this weekend I am off to see Romeo and Juliet the musical at the West End. This will be the fourth musical I have seen within a year; I think somewhere an amber warning light is pulsing.

The last one I went to was Ben Elton’s Queen tribu-musical We Will Rock You. In summary: good production qualities, the songs were belted out well and the lighting FX were impressive; story was somewhat nonsensical and choreography needed some work. Still, the songs are very good so that’s ok. Which is why news that there will be a sequel (to run simultaneously) is a bit worrying – the cream of Queen’s songs have been used in the original and sequel plots are usually rather disappointing (even when the originals are actually good!)… where will the redeeming features come from?

Anyway, expect a review of R&J come the new week.

“Half Day Cloneing”.

Eh?  Am I right ?!?

Just wanted to say a big “public” thankyou [very much, thankyou very very much, thankyou very very very much] to Dave who has put up with the peculiarities of my designs, my insistence on Opera compatibility and my seemingly unquenchable thirst for “just adding one more bit” to code the new-look website for our flat nobodynet.net. I’ve got to admit that I’m extremely impressed with his results (and the fact that during the months of design and coding he didn’t feel the need to hit me even once). Nice one, Dave!

Now, about that hifi robot…

Not really geeky, or anything like that, but just “Nice”. iusedtobelieve.com is a collection of things we used to believe when we were kids, and I’ve just spent ages picking through sections of it. I’ve also submitted my own :) like the fact that when the ice Cream van used to come around, mum used to tell me it was for “children whos mums couldn’t afford freezers” so that I didn’t hassle her to buy me a lolly. And it worked.

Just a quick plug to say that Dave and I are part of a “select group” who have decided to write a blog about the exciting goings-on in Chester-based soap opera Hollyoaks. If you want to take a look then head over to the sister-site Hollyoaks – Bloggin’ On.

Fear not though – The Antigeek will continue as before with, um, more unusual battle scenarios, reviews of confectionery and descriptions of fairly pointless projects :-) Having spent all of yesterday catching up on issues of ntk (I’m only a month behind now!) I am once again filled with wonder at the amount of cool stuff on the web. Really, there should never be a dull moment in my life again…

I remember hearing a while ago, possibly on more than one occasion, people talking about the possibility of Will Smith standing for President of the USA. Well, we were wondering – if he was President, would he ban “The Fresh Prince Of Bell Air” from being shown? Or would there be a channel showing it on loop 24/7? And, would “Boom, Shake The Room” be the new National Anthem? When making an adresses, would the crowd have to greet every positive and popular statement by shouting “Pump it up Prince” whilst punching the air? Would DJ Jazzy Jeff be his Vice President?

I know that I for one would sleep much better at night if any or all of the above happened.

Ach, server problems mean that this site has been down for the last week. Anyway, things are hopefully sorted now so hooray! Actually, it was quite handy as I didn’t have too much to write about anyway :)

Most exciting news is that I have just bought an iPaq and am now happily experimenting with using bluetooth & gprs to SSH into our flat server etc. I’m sure there will be a full tedious update on what I think of it soon. Already I want to buy a wireless network card for it though…

You don’t see that on those Clarks adverts, do you?  First person asking “New Shoes?” and second person screaming in pain as he shifts his weight from one foot to the other.

Well they damn well should.  I wouldn’t normally complain about illness or pain, but this really is ridiculous.  I was prepared for a bit of discomfort as I broke them in but I’ve been wearing them for four days now, they’ve peeled the skin off the back of my feet and I have to limp/hobble when I wear them.  I’m beginning to think that they actually might not fit.  Ah well, I’ll sole-dier (groan) on for now.

Most people would use their two weeks leave from work by going on a nice relaxing holiday.
